FROM THE ASSOCIATION MANAGER
I. CARRAWAY, JR.
If you have been on the website before, you will
that it has a new look. This is through the efforts of the new
webmaster, Danny Mausolf. I want to thank him for his efforts.
There have been many changes over the last year that will affect you.
USBC has stopped issuing any awards except for honor scores. These have
been changed to only one in a lifetime. Other awards have been
eliminated. The awards we provide have been modified and new ones have
been added. Awards for lower average bowlers have been added and many
of our members who have never received an award are pleasantly
surprised to be recognized for their accomplishments. We attempt to get
the awards back to the league secretary within seven days of receipt of
them in the office. Everyone is taking advantage of the conditions this
season to bowl many more award scores than in the past.
If you have internet access and have an e-mail address you should be
receiving information directly from USBC about the various changes and
developments that are happening. Hopefully, this information has been
helpful and interesting.
Membership fees for the Adult Standard card will not change for the
2014-2015 season. The fee is still $20.00 with $10.00 for USBC, $9.00
for Local and $1.00 for State. If you bowl in a Sport league, there is
an additional $15.00 membership fee. For this additional fee, you will
receive a multitude of additional benefits. A membership card purchased
in a summer league will expire at the end of the current season.
Another card has been established for a membership in a league that is
18 weeks or less. It will cost $11.00 and be good for ONE LEAGUE only.
If you should sub in another league, you will be required to purchase
another membership. There will not be any awards issued for this
Youth membership methods have changed. Cards will cost $11.00 which
includes $4.00 for USBC and $6.00 for TVUSBC and $1.00 for the State.
There will be a contract between the center and TVUSBC to process
leagues. Awards for youth will be provided by us.
We will do something different in 2015 for the open and women’s
tournament. We plan to hold them in AMF Norfolk at the same time as we
did two years ago. AMF Norfolk was large enough that we were able to
accommodate them both in three weeks. We will be holding our 26th
Annual Senior Tournament in December at Pinboys At The Beach. AMF
Norfolk will be hosting the 21st Annual Mixed Tournament November 15-16
