FROM THE ASSOCIATION MANAGER
I. CARRAWAY, JR.
It has been some time since I updated the
my message, so I want to take this time to apologize for failing to be
There have been changes over
the past year that may have affected you. Several of the
awards were modified and new ones have been added. Awards for
lower average bowlers have been added and many of our members
have never received an award are pleasantly surprised to be recognized
for their accomplishments. We attempt to get the awards back
the league secretary within seven days of the receipt of them
the office. Everyone is taking advantage of
conditions this season to bowl many more award scores than in the
past. There will be
award changes by USBC brought up at the convention in Reno in May.
Watch this letter for information when it has been approved.
If you have internet access and have an e-mail
should be receiving information directly from USBC about the
various changes and developments that are happening. Hopefully, this
information has been helpful and interesting. As I have said before,
there are many changes in the pipeline and they will be
as final plans are made. It is USBC’s, and our hope that this
method of communication will better keep you informed.
fees for the Standard card will not change for the
season. The fee is still $20.00 with $10.00 for USBC, $9.00 for Local
and $1.00 for State. If you bowl in a Sport league, there is
additional $15.00 membership fee. For this additional fee, you will
receive a multitude of additional benefits. One
that membership cards purchased in a summer league will expire at the
end of the current season rather than
be good for an additional year.
We did something different this year for
the open and
women’s tournament. We held them in the same house at the same time.
AMF Norfolk was large enough that
we were able to
accommodate them both in three weeks. We will
be holding our
19th Annual Mixed Tournament in June at AMF Lynnhaven because
Norfolk will be hosting the State Open Tournament for doubles
